The Long, Long Celebration
A 50 year wedding anniversary is not such an unusual thing but celebrating the occasion for the whole year is both novel and a beguiling concept.
So the Orkney participation in the year of happy travels for this British couple, was a Missing Bell execution of the chosen Washoku Japanese cuisine with the 'Izakaya Seafood' menu.
Ultra-fresh, made-for-the-moment Westray organic salmon sushi, Westray crab with sesame seed sushi and prawn sushi. Served with Gari (pickled root ginger), soy sauce and freshly rubbed 100% real Japanese wasabi.
Sashimi: Westray organic salmon, flame seared.
Served with picked-for-moment shiso, Japanese rolled egg and yuzo pepper.
Ika: very tender squid with freshly picked Thai basil
Green beans with Missing Bell sesame dressing
Tempura: scallops, monkfish, broccoli and fennel. Served with Missing Bell tempura sauce, daicon and freshly rubbed ginger.
Nasu dengaku: aubergine with freshly made red miso.
Teriyaki beef: Orkney fillet steak, shiitake mushrooms Missing Bell special recipe teriyaki sauce
Desert time: green tea mousse, peaches, freshly baked green tea cake and chocolate macoron
