Yesterday mother nature and Orkney conspired in a display of showing-off these beautiful islands.
An idyllically calm blue sea playing mirror to a big sky, with no breeze, the tell-tale aroma of farming life provided lucky island dwellers with an idyllic time to celebrate summer. Although the official summer solstice on June 21 heralds the beginning of summer, yesterday was a summer day. Marking the occasion, our eight-year-old daughter snapped this 'trophy of the day' image of a pollen covered bee on a dandelion that also thought it was summer.
